"The future lies in the hands of our children.
Teach them well." So ended the opening ceremonies for the annual
Earth Day celebration at Riverfield Country Day School in Tulsa,
Oklahoma on April 20th. And Air Hygiene was right there doing its
part to help educate tomorrow's leaders.
Air
Hygiene President Quinn Bierman and Controller Joel Morgan hauled
Air Hygiene's deluxe dual-system mobile lab out to the school to
provide a series of presentations about various types of air pollution
and the ways stack testing firms analyze pollution levels. Children
from four different 5th-grade classes toured the trailer, then retired
to the playground for a question and answer session.
President Bierman described air pollution to the students
in very practical terms, helping them understand how even the most
commonplace icons of western culture, like automobiles, contribute
to the pollution of the earth's atmosphere. In turn, the fifth-graders
asked various insightful questions about subjects such as the state
of the ozone layer, the use of calibration gases, and the air sampling
process.
Children truly represent our future. Air Hygiene challenges
everyone involved in environmental engineering, whether employed
in industry, government, or consulting, to take an active role in
teaching children about air pollution and how we can strategically
control pollution while leaving room for commercial progress and
growth.
